Just realized that one can make enemies by simply saying: "I want to be a good man," or "I want to do good." This statement offends at least three types of people:
(1) A hard-core cynic who cherishes the fundamental belief that people are motivated only and purely by self-interest, and the so called "good deeds" are really just hypocrisy;
(2) A real evil person who thinks there's already too much good in the world, how the hell dare you add more?!
(3) A feminist who simply hates it whenever s/he sees words like "man," "woman," "male," "female," "history," etc, because they are reminiscent of the ages when le deuxième sexe was disadvantaged.
Hmm, so I just learned something new in life. Brave new world.
