Coincidence, five years apart

Just found that the distance and direction from Beijing [39° 54′ 50″ N] to Simatai (a section of the Great Wall) is roughly the same as from Manhattan [40° 43′ 0″ N] to New Haven - Northeast, 78 miles (or 120 kilometers), and I traveled the two routes almost exactly 5 years apart. Coincidence?
